“The Book Thief” is set in Nazi Germany during World War II and is narrated by Death. It follows the life of Liesel Meminger, a young girl who is sent to live with foster parents, Hans and Rosa Hubermann, in the small town of Molching. As Liesel adjusts to her new life, she discovers a love for books and begins stealing them from various places, including Nazi book burnings and the mayor’s wife’s library. With the help of her kind-hearted foster father, she learns to read and finds solace in words amidst the horrors of war.
