“Beach Read” centers on two authors, January Anderson and Gus Everett, who are struggling with writer’s block and personal issues. January, a romance novelist, is reeling from her recent breakup and the death of her father. Gus, a literary fiction writer, is dealing with his own challenges and has recently gone through a difficult breakup as well. Both are staying in neighboring beach houses for the summer and decide to swap genres to help overcome their creative blocks: January will write literary fiction, and Gus will write romance. As they spend time together, their relationship evolves from rivalry to friendship and eventually to romance.
